Battle Abbey Wedding – You Bring the Chaos, I’ll Bring the Camera

Candid wedding photography at Battle Abbey—historic drama meets modern-day magic.
FROM LA TO SAN DIEGO, SANTA BARBARA & BEYOND…
Filmic, relaxed wedding photography in East Sussex with a side of grit and soul
Battle Abbey isn’t just a wedding venue—it’s a statement. A thousand years of history, crumbling stone cloisters, views over the Sussex countryside… and then someone pops a prosecco and starts dancing before the starters arrive. That contrast? As a Battle Abbey Wedding Photographer – that’s what I live for.
This is wedding photography, but not the kind you’ve seen a hundred times. It’s real. Unstaged. Candid, like a film still or a memory. I don’t do twenty versions of the same pose. I shoot how it feels.

Film Look Meets Medieval Stone
There’s something wild about modern weddings in ancient spaces. Battle Abbey has this cinematic gravity to it. Light slants through leaded windows. Steps echo like a cathedral. And then—your best friend yells your name from the courtyard with a cocktail in each hand. I’m there for both.
I lean into the texture of the day. The shadows, the movement, the in-between stuff. Most of this wedding was shot on the fly—minimal direction, no faffing. Just instinct, timing, and the kind of calm confidence that comes from ten years behind the lens.
The Rooftop? Unreal.
Honestly, if you get married at Battle Abbey and don’t make it up to the rooftop, you’re missing a moment. It’s peaceful up there. Still. A bit removed from the madness below. We snuck up for a few portraits—nothing stiff, nothing cheesy. Just two people, wind in their hair, East Sussex unfolding behind them like a painting.

Why I Keep Coming Back
I’ve photographed weddings all over the UK, but Battle Abbey holds a special place. It’s got this raw, powerful energy. The kind of space where every wedding feels like a one-off.

You Bring the People, I’ll Bring the Camera
If you’re planning a Battle Abbey wedding and want photos that feel alive—honest, cinematic, with just enough edge—I’d love to hear from you.
I shoot fast, I don’t over-direct, and I’ll blend in like a guest with a camera (a very, very good camera). The result? Images that feel like memories, not marketing.
