Fun and Informal Lake District Wedding
Fun and informal wedding photography is my jam. So when Nat and Marc got in touch for me to provide coverage for their Town Head Estate wedding, I jumped at the chance. “Initially we weren’t sure about having a photographer as we were keen to have it very private and informal,” Nat told me. “But we met Dale at my best friend’s wedding where I was a bridesmaid, I couldn’t believe how immediately relaxed and calm Dale made everyone feel. In the best way possible, we barely noticed Dale was there which completely changed our perspective. Seeing their photos got us booking Dale the very same day. Dale is fuss-free, so authentic and great company too.”
Brief: Fun and Informal Wedding Photography
Nervous about all the pomp and ceremony normally surrounding a wedding, Nat and Marc chose to focus on having a fun-filled day instead. “Our inspiration was for it to be informal but still pretty extra at times,” Nat continued. “We agreed we didn’t need a lot of the traditions, finding more comfortable more ‘us’ ways of doing things and ultimately just wanted to have so much fun and laugh all day. Marc found an incredible venue and vendors which took all the nerves away. We love the Lake District so getting married there was so obvious and so right.”
Theme: Informal But Extra
With sustainability a core focus on their day, they chose local vendors wherever possible, Nat’s dress was designed and handmade with a vintage 70s piano shawl by Poppy Perspective and carbon offset the wedding, too. They called on the help of friends and family with food, flowers and the most important aspect of their day – the ceremony. “The most important part of our day was definitely the ceremony – it sounds cliche, but we had two really close friends officiate the ceremony and made it really personal. It was a big ask of them so we’re beyond thankful and they were so brilliant. The setting was beautiful by the lake too.”
Reading: Blessing of the Hands
Their ceremony included a handfasting and a reading of Blessing of the Hands by Rev. Daniel L. Harris. “These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow, and forever. These are the hands that will work alongside yours, as together you build your future. These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other.”
“These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief fills your mind. These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes; tears of sorrow, and tears of joy. These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children. These are the hands that will help you to hold your family as one. These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it. And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged, will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.”
Music: Mexican Mariachi Cover Band
After that, the music and dancing were very important to this couple. “Nothing makes us happier than a good bop!” They hired London’s best London’s No 1 Mexican Mariachi Band, Mariachi Tequila, for not one but two sets, and had a silent disco of lovingly curated indie-pop and hip-hop playlists for their reception.
