Modern, Family-Orientated, Quintessentially English Wedding
An unconventional celebration calls for unconventional wedding photography. My focus for Charlotte and Clancy’s wedding at Walcot Hall in Shropshire in July was to quietly do my thing in the background while the magic of the day unfolded in front of me.
A Family-Focused Wedding Day
After being separated during the pandemic, the most important part of this pair’s wedding day was of family coming together. Their brief was to host it in a quintessentially English venue. Somewhere they could all stay for a few days and spend some quality time with one another. Nestled in endless countryside, with beautiful gardens and a grand English house, Walcot Hall provided the perfect setting for the pair to celebrate their union.
Chic, Modern Style with Alternative Accents
Choosing local suppliers wherever possible, the couple just picked things that they loved or resonated with them for their day. They had bouquets and buttonholes from local florist Borage and Blossom. Their cake was designed by Charlotte’s mum and made by a lady in Devon. Her show-stopper, personalised embroidered veil was designed by Suzie Slipper. “Our style had modern aspects and a focus on chic and easygoing accents,” Charlotte told me. “The focus really was on how the day felt, not how it looked.”
People are Like Cities
Sigur Ros and Fat Boy Slim were on Charlotte and Clancy’s playlist for the day, plus lots of orchestral string covers and a ceidhli band for the evening. They chose readings from Phillip Pullman’s ‘The Amber Spyglass’ and ‘Wild Awake’ by Hilary Smith. The epic sparkler first dance in the fairy-lit courtyard was a beautiful moment to capture and it was a pleasure doing so. Thankyou for having me! Now onto the photos.
